Fall Colors

I am finally starting at Michaels tomorrow, not exactly my choice to work on a Sunday, but at least it's not till the afternoon, and only a temporary situation. But thanks to a very helpful thought from my dad, I realized that instead of taking over advantage of my 25% discount there, I can put the money away and work toward helping save to be able to move wherever we want to settle and get an apartment :) don't know why it didn't occur to me before, because we figured we were staying here until we found relatively perminant jobs...there are options :D

So I went a little crazy with the GORGEOUS colors outside one can tell I LOVE fall right??Nite :D

I finally took some pictures of before, during and after makeover... =D
I wanted a better looking desk, without buying a new one, for $10 made the old one over...
My desk was a free one I took with me from the Wesley house when it closed. I had begun to hate the wood-looking stuff and it was getting worn...
I lightly sanded each wood-looking piece, and sprayed on white primer. I then used a black satin indoor/outdoor paint, about 3 coats per piece.
The almost finished product, I reassembled it, and then used 3 coats of clear polyurethane to protect it, and stop the fingerprints we made when leaning on or touching it :)

The finished product!!! I love the sleek shine of the black, and it makes it look so much more clean! (well i also decluttered and cleaned it up ;) I want to eventually find some large and medium baskets to paint white and put on the lower shelves because it is still hard to store stuff down there without it looking cluttered...but Ta-Da!

2nd Tile Table project...

Above is another tile table, one I actually got to grout using some leftover material from a contractor! (sorry forgot to take before pics here too)

I actually had to use a jigsaw to carve off some broken edges, sanded and painted before gluing the tile etc...

Some Projects

I wanted to share some visuals of some of the craft projects I have worked on in the last year...

Above is a rolling bench window seat with bottom storage that I converted from an upper bathroom cabinet for my furniture design class

This was an old rusty copper end table I found at the end of a neighbor's driveway that I cleaned up, spray painted and tiled the top with extra tiles from work.

I am thinking before and after pictures may be an added benefit... =D

Anyway, more ideas to come!

From the Beginning

Alright...I decided I might like to share about myself and get out there (In case anyone happens to read this) and be able to share about my designs and passion.
I happen to currently be a freshly graduated, newly married, creative, job searching designer...and to top it off, living with my husband in his (my in-laws) basement. Yes not exactly the dream start we had in mind, but at least it's not a cardboard box! We are however in the lineup for an interview for Kevin at a church in Springfield MO for a youth position. For anyone who knows Kevin, we know that this would be a dream position for him, and it'll be a chance for me to see his passion flow again. He was the president of Wesley Foundation in the past, and thrived in the position. So we are excited about the possibilities and we are thrilled with the idea of being back in Springfield which has become home.
Prayin prayin prayin!!
